How to report an error

Email [email protected]. Please do not include personal data or details of your own claim. A useful report has three things:

  • The page address and the fact you think is wrong.
  • What it should say.
  • If you have it, a link to the official source showing the correct value. An official page or statute is what settles it.

What we do

  1. We open the official source again and compare it with the page.
  2. If the page is wrong or outdated, we correct the research record, run a second, independent check of the corrected value, and republish the page with its new date.
  3. If we cannot confirm the right value from an official source, we remove the value rather than guess, and the page says it could not be confirmed.
  4. Significant corrections are listed below with the date.

What counts as a significant correction

A correction is significant if it would change what a reader does: a wrong search address, phone number, deadline, fee limit, required document or payment method. Fixing a typo or updating a figure when a program publishes a new annual report does not go in the log; those changes show in the page's date.

The kinds of facts that change

Programs do change, and a page can go out of date between checks. These real changes show why it is worth telling us, and why you should follow the official site if it differs from ours:

  • New names and addresses. Florida's program took a new public name, Claim Your Cash Florida, in September 2026.
  • New claim systems. California moved to a new claims system in September 2025, and Maryland launched online claims in October 2025.
  • New ways to be paid. Louisiana added optional direct deposit in September 2026, and Georgia's law has allowed electronic transfers since July 2026.

Our update calendar says how often each kind of fact is checked again.
